Gairloch
A nine-hole seaside links beside the beach at Gairloch in Wester Ross, with second-nine tees that turn it into an 18-hole round — an unmanned, volunteer-run club offering 'an excellent challenge to golfers of all abilities'.
Formed in June 1898 by eleven enthusiasts on seaside links land gifted by Sir Kenneth S. MacKenzie of Gairloch, with Capt. A.M. Burgess credited as founder and designer. Members tended a green each until the first mower arrived in 1899; the first match was played against Ullapool in late 1899. Target butts from the World Wars remain visible beside the 17th tee.
