One of the oldest golf venues in the world — golf has been recorded on the Montrose Links since 1562. A classic seaside links through coastal duneland, gently undulating and easy to walk, with several holes running alongside the beach.
Golf is recorded on the Montrose Links from 1562, making it one of the oldest courses in the world (often cited as the fifth oldest). Much of the current layout is credited to Willie Park Jr in 1903. It serves as a Final Qualifying venue when The Open is played at Carnoustie and hosted the British Boys Championship in 1991.
