Drive to the right-centre of the fairway, then a mid-to-long iron to a green with a bunker short and a back-to-front slope.

Slight dogleg right — aim just right of the pot bunker on the left and take an extra club for the elevated green.

An accurate drive avoids the ditch on the right; laying up short of the fairway bunker is the smart play. Long hitters can get home in two, but trouble lies right and behind.

Usually into the wind with trouble left and right. Aim for the front right of the green — links fairways allow a run-up if you come up short.

A gradual right-to-left dogleg, usually three shots. Favour right-centre off the tee and avoid the pot bunker about 50 yards short of the green.

A tricky par 3 with a right-to-left wind that's hard to read from the tee. Land on the right half of the green to stay clear of the ditch on the left.

Dogleg right to left — play down the right to avoid the revetted bunkers. The long, narrow green is protected by a bowl and steep slope at the front.

A shorter par 4 with a view of the Isle of Arran. Drive left-centre and play for the back half of the plateau green.

Favour the left off the tee; carrying the two central pot bunkers gives an easier approach, otherwise consider playing it as a three-shot hole.

A long hole where the 11th green is the ideal line. Two good shots needed — finish on the left of the fairway for the best approach.

The shortest hole: distance control is key around the bunkers and slopes. Playing over the right-front bunker gives a good chance at par.

The shortest par 4, with views of the Firth of Clyde. Aim for the top of the plateau fairway; the flat, elevated green has hidden bunkers and crosswinds.

Runs alongside the railway line. Find the fairway to set up an approach to the two-tier green, which has a ditch at the front.

Doglegs right over the final 120 yards. Aim left-centre to avoid the fairway bunker on the right, and lay up well back to see the pin on the elevated green.

A challenging par 3 that plays its full length. Favour the right half of the small green to avoid the large front-left bunker.

The toughest hole on the course, into the prevailing wind. Aim right-centre to avoid the first fairway bunker; the two-tier green has a bunker on the left.

Dogleg right to left — don't cut the corner. Approach from the right to avoid the pot bunker on the left and find the large, flat green.

The longest hole, usually three shots. Play down the left to avoid the bunkers on the right; the green has a ditch in front and pot bunkers behind.
